The botanical sanctuary lies at the foot of Jade Spring Hill north
of the West Lake. The garden occupies a wide area of 231 hectares.
Featuring more than 3400 species of plants, the garden is subdivided
into a research section and an appreciation area. The latter is further
sub-branched, a botanical garden for cash plants, a botany classification
area, the
osmanthus and crape myrtle garden,
an bamboo garden, the arbor garden, the medical plant garden, the
lily magnolia and camellia garden, the potted landscape garden, the
plant resources museum, etc. With buildings, pavilions, lounges dotted,
the botanical garden is a big park characterized by the crisp air,
wonderful environment, bubbling streams and quiet ponds, luxuriant
vegetation, and rare flowers of various species.
Located inside the botanical garden are "Enjoy Plum Blossom in Lingfeng"
and "Fish Jumping in Jade Spring," two major tourist attractions around
the West Lake. Visitors go there for sightseeing and relaxation.
